FESTIVE | SEASON

by dailykongfidence

Holidays are always an amazing time for so many reasons, but one of those reasons is an excuse to get dressed up. Invitations to office parties, holiday events, cocktails, gift exchanges, and New Year’s Eve are all reasons to put on a dress and be a little extra.

I wore this ruffled, off the shoulder dress to a holiday party recently and I realized that I actually wore it wrong! The long ruffle straps in front weren’t meant to be tied into a bow like I did, but rather tied around the neck like a halter (oops). But here’s to knowing there is more than one way to rock a look and make it your own. Lesson: There’s no wrong way to wear a look! I like this dress in particular because while it can be worn to a cocktail party with some heels or boots, I can also dress it down with a pair of sneakers. It is a versatile dress that can be worn basically year round!

Since this dress is ruffled, flowy and dreamy, I wanted to “edge” it up a bit. Instead of wearing it with strappy heels, I decided to go with some metallic booties from River Island. I also balanced the feminine ruffles with my go-to leather jacket. To keep this look semi monochrome, I added this classic, structured bag from W Concept. This look was for a cocktail party, but for all the other holiday parties that may be coming up, here are some of my favorite dresses and styles.

/ Cocktail Dresses /
I personally love cocktail dresses because they can be dressed up or down. Having more of a petite frame, I also find that cocktail dresses accentuate the legs to appear taller.

/ Long Dresses /
For the more formal parties, a long dress is a must. To avoid looking like you’re going to prom or a gala, try a dress with a slit to show off some leg or a plunging neckline to add a bit of sexiness.

/ Jumpsuits /
Jumpsuits are one of my favorites. They may be difficult when going to the bathroom, but I love how classy and elegant they look.

/ Embellished Dresses /
And what’s a party dress without some bling? Holidays are the perfect excuse to break out the sequins, sparkle and shine.

Oh my goodness I do that all the time! I’ve literally worn things out for a whole day only to realise when I get home that I’ve worn it wrong but managed to make it work anyway. I think you rocked it without the halter straps to be honest and the clean shoulders just makes those ruffles stand out that much more!!

Haha happen to me one time actually many times when I wore something wrong . But at least your dress looks like it suppose to look like that. I personally prefer jumpsuits and don’t mind to take it off entirely in bathroom of bathroom is clean. They just super comfy. Short dresses look amazing but I feel always awkward in it. Love your metallic boots too!

Loving the mix of ruffles and metallic booties. That dress is adorable and you really can’t tell that you’re wearing it “wrong.” When my kids were younger I was so tired and used to walk out of the house with my dresses inside out – this isn’t all that bad LOL. Love the holiday inspo! And that bag is the perfect match – this combo really is perfection!

Those boots are just killer! Love them to pieces and I adore this holiday look all around! I love that you didn’t tie the strap up! When I first looked at the dress, before reading the post, I was taken back with ruffle going down the middle! You are absolutely right! Wear it how ever it feels best, even in a non-traditional way! I’d definitely wear this with sneaker too! Love that you added the classic structured W bag! It also looks phenomenal with the leather jacket as well! I definitely need to look for one that color! I’m loving so many of your holiday picks! Happy Thanksgiving!
